Converge - Electric Ballroom Camden (26th April)

Possibly the most inventive hardcore band this side of the Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge have some truly exceptional, inventive, raging songs.

They were also not afraid to slow down the mayhem and play some of there more of their less thrashy songs.  The song about depression, A Single Tear, ranks among some of the most emotionally hard-hitting hardcore songs ever written and is real spine-tingler live.

Although as live band Converge play with such pace and ferocity that sometimes the intricacies of their music can get lost in the melee of the sound system. This makes their performance somewhat uneven, their brilliances is in their musicality and is a shame that this does not always shine through as it should.

Nevertheless Converge are still after 20 years one of the best live hardcore bands around and this evening did not disappoint.
